What Do You Do All Day?

What Do You Do All Day?
Might be better than it seems
Sacrificing future dreams
To the present

Knowing that your time will come
Only makes the interim
More unpleasant

I claw through the night to a point of light
Unsure I can trust my sight
Or buried stay
I cling to a line in an abandoned mine
But they must think I'm doing fine
'What do you do all day?'
Is what they say

No one knows where I have been
Or the horrors I have seen
They think I'm crazy

My good efforts on display
From my blood they draw their pay
And call me lazy

Alone with my wits against TV twits
Their putdowns are the pits
What do you do all day?
It's war to restore my authority
Over what they tore from me
And they want more

I drag a cross I don't want to a restaurant
Then I must receive a daunt
What do you do all day?
I hew out my tracks with a wooden ax
Not a moment to relax
Or even contemplate
My sorry fate

They drift along in a chemical daze
They see the world with their eyes in a glaze
They think that women should jump on their laps
One more word from them and I will collapse

Takes a special kind of prick
To say that leaning on a stick
Would make one guilty

They tell lies to make their fun
I don't think that anyone
Could be more filthy

I strain to sustain my reality
Against the abnormality
What do you do all day?
I smash the illusions they cannot see
It wears upon my sanity
Turns my hair gray

I build a wall ten feet tall out of earth and stone
Work my fingers to the bone
To keep the creeps away
I race to my own place in history
Guess it was my destiny
To suffer their dismay
Along the way
