I wince when I hear people choosing their movies based on the stars featured. It's kind of like voting for a politician based on his wardrobe. How many big stars must bomb in badly written movies to prove, once and for all, that good writing is more important than a big name? I'm hoping that the internet is going to make a difference. This generation is the first to choose their own stars from the web. Now if we can just get the industry to support their choices instead of discouraging them. I know that I have a few fans in High School and College. Never mind my advanced age, I belong to them. And I will be happy to stay online and continue building up my act for them so that we may one day get together for the best beach party in history. And if these people are good enough to elevate me to a position of power, I will use that power to level the playing field for all talent and prevent any new monsters from cropping up in the future. I think that top stars should be limited to a five-year reign. After that, they should be barred from the stage. Five years is enough. Hey, we do it to governments, right? Why do you think we do that? We do that because the longer that one has power, the more likely that one will be corrupted by it and become a tyrant. Stars have power. Looks to me like they are corrupted by this power. Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to go to a movie that features all new talent? As long is it were well written, it would make money. I think people would get more out of a film without the distracting presence of a star. You can trust me with power. I would use it to round up all the big stars who have been around for far too long and execute them in batches of ten with a fifty caliber machine gun. I doubt they would surrender their stardom any other way. |
