Love is for losers to spend without gain So the dead can pass themselves off as alive So fools can pretend to be wise So the ugly may appear beautiful I gave my all for less than nothing I measure the return in table scraps and insect bites Love is a wall to set the poet apart They invaded my heart, seeking reassurance of their superiority And unsuccessful, destroyed my good works Love goes to waste in a world of machines Its uses reduced to fuel for mockery |
