Seventy-two hours since I last inhaled nicotine, I'm over my craving for the substance. It's nice to see the yellow mark on my index finger fading. My lungs still have to heal and I expect to be coughing my brains out for the next few months. I know that my character has been under attack over my tobacco smoking, at the hands of hypocrites who apparently think it's better to smoke crack. They looked at my smoking of cigarette butts as some kind of cringing, slavish impulse. It was not. It was an act of my will. I was determined to smoke tobacco without money. As long as they want to point to me as some kind of weakling, let me share what I consider to be the most definitive characteristics of a weakling: A weakling can't survive on a low income and will blow the Devil for a paycheck. A weakling can't admit when he's at fault because he can't handle the shame. A weakling needs someone else to do his job for him. A weakling can't fight battles one-on-one and will only attack when he has his foe greatly outnumbered, ultimately to lose the battle. A weakling fears confrontation and only attacks from behind. These traits describe my enemies in the industry rather well, don't you agree? As for me, I just have eighteen days to go before I have money again. Just another month spent broke and starving in front of the whole world, like I've been living for the most of the last ten years. |
